La Liga says no to Barça, Dani Olmo is free
New Year’s Eve took a wrong turn for FC Barcelona, as La Liga refused to register Dani Olmo. Barça has now turned to the Spanish Football Federation, while the player is currently a free agent.
In a statement released overnight, FC Barcelona announced that it has requested the Spanish Football Federation for the right to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, following La Liga’s refusal. The league claims that the Catalan club has not provided the necessary financial guarantees to give Barça the green light. As noted by the Spanish sports press, the Spanish Football Federation has never overstepped its authority by granting a player’s license without La Liga’s approval. Meanwhile, Dani Olmo has sent a New Year’s message, hinting that he does not intend to leave FC Barcelona, even though legally he is now free to sign with any club, as he cannot currently play for his team.
