Mercato OM: A surprise offer arrives for Nuno Tavares
As the transfer window approaches, Marseille is preparing to lose Nuno Tavares. A Premier League club has initiated moves for his transfer.
OM Transfer Market: West Ham takes action for Nuno Tavares.
Nuno Tavares is living his final weeks at Olympique de Marseille. Arriving during the last summer transfer window, the Portuguese right-back quickly made an impression with remarkable performances. Powerful and impactful in his position, the Portuguese player troubled some Ligue 1 defenses. However, as the matches went on, Nuno Tavares quickly fell back into his old habits.
His inconsistency and lack of commitment in training deeply disappointed Igor Tudor, who prefers to rely on others to animate the left flank. Worse, the player loaned from Arsenal was excluded from the OM squad for the away match against Lille (2-1). With two matches remaining in the season, the left wing-back understood that he will not extend his adventure in Marseille this summer.
Since his loan at OM does not include a purchase option, Nuno Tavares will logically return to Arsenal, where his contract runs until June 2025. But he is expected to quickly pack his bags for another destination, as the Gunners are considering selling him. His situation quickly caught the attention of a Premier League club in search of defensive reinforcements.
West Ham bids €8 million for Nuno Tavares.
In today’s edition, A Bola assures that West Ham is determined to finalize the signing of Nuno Tavares as soon as the next summer transfer window opens. Moreover, the club led by David Moyes has made an initial offer to secure his transfer as quickly as possible. The exact amount of the offer has not yet been disclosed, but the Portuguese sports newspaper assures that Arsenal‘s management would demand no less than €8 million before parting ways with the player.
The Gunners would thus like to recoup their investment made two years ago to secure the services of Nuno Tavares from Benfica Lisbon. It remains to be seen whether West Ham’s proposal will be sufficient to finalize this operation. In any case, Marseille will have to find a new left wing-back to replace him for the next season.
