FOOTBALL – Mercato OL: Houssem Aouar, Arsenal returns to the charge!

After Melvin Bard, Joachim Andersen and Jean Lucas, the OL should conclude the transfer of Houssem Aouar. Arsenal, one of the many courtiers of the latter, would be ready to go on the offensive to complete his transfer.

OL: Houssem Aouar transferred for €35m?

Houssem Aouar should be transferred by the OL this summer. His profile interests several foreign clubs and not the least. Moreover, he has a release voucher since the summer of 2020. Arsenal would be ready to come back to the charge with an increased proposal to recruit the French international midfielder. According to Todo Fichajes, the Gunners are expected to make an offer estimated at €35 million, plus €5 million in bonuses, to Olympique Lyonnais. The London club’s objective is to conclude the transfer of Houssem Aouar, after the one of Ben White bought from Brighton for €60M.

The source understands that the OL playmaker should be offered a big salary, in order to convince him to sign without hesitation, even if he will not play in the European Cup this season. Arsenal finished last season (2020-2021) in 8th place in the Premier League and did not qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League.

Aulas contraint de revoir ses exigences à la baisse

Houssem Aouar is under contract with the Rhone club until June 2023 and his rating is valued at 42 M€. Jean-Michel Aulas hoped to transfer him for more than 80 M€ in the summer of 2019, but the Covid-19 crisis occurred suddenly in March 2019. Consequences? The finances of professional clubs, precisely the biggest buyers, dried up. And the costs of players on the transfer market fell significantly. Therefore, the president of the OL would not spit on an offer close to 40 M€ for the native of Lyon. In any case, he is forced to revise his demands downwards, due to the effects of the crisis. Note that Juventus, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Everton … have all checked the name of Houssem Aouar on their notebook.
