Raymond Domenech gave his opinion on the clash between PSG and Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. In the frankness that we know him, he believes that the Parisians have little chance to overcome the German club, European champion in title.
PSG – Bayern: Domenech does not bet on Paris
It is indeed Bayern Munich who had beaten PSG (1-0) in the final of the Champions League 2020 and had thus climbed on the roof of Europe, at the end of the ”Final 8” played in Lisbon (Portugal) last August. The two clubs will meet in the quarterfinals this time, and obviously in two legs. The first round will be played in Munich on April 7, and the second in Paris on April 13. Questioned by the channel L’Équipe about this double confrontation between Parisians and Bavarians, Raymond Domenech was pessimistic for Paris Saint-Germain.
“We can say that Paris has little chance against this team. They would have to be miraculous in two games,” he said. “The final (of last season) was a special thing. Now it’s a two-game game. Whether Bayern Munich plays at home or in Paris, it’s the same. They are a team that can turn everything around. They are the hyper favorite of this competition. For PSG, it is not a gift. We knew it, but for me it will be very, very, very complicated. I will not put a penny on Paris SG,” he said.
A bit of hope for Paris Saint-Germain?
Finally, the former coach of the French team and short-lived coach of FC Nantes (December 26, 2020 to February 11, 2021) has “left a hope” of qualification to the club of the capital. Note that PSG has changed coach. That of the final of last season, Thomas Tuchel left his place to Mauricio Pochettino since January 2, 2021. And he managed to take out the Barcelona of Lionel Messi in the 8th final, with panache: (1-4) in the first leg at the Camp Nou and (1-1) in the return in Paris.
