FOOTBALL – LOSC : Big concern in Lille after FC Metz and before Chelsea
Held in check by FC Metz (0-0), LOSC does not reassure before facing Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday. Gourvennec‘s team is even worried.
LOSC – FC Metz (0-0) : A bad operation for Lille OSC
After a heavy defeat (5-1) against PSG and a short victory in Montpellier (1-0), LOSC has not been able to achieve a second success in Ligue 1. On Friday, Jocelyn Gourvennec‘s team was a shadow of its former self against a relegated FC Metz team before the opening match of the 25th day of Ligue 1. An electric match marred by a fight between Frederic Antonetti, the coach of Metz and one of the managers of Lille OSC, Sylvain Armand (sports coordinator). The two managers came to blows at the very end of the match, after the expulsion of the winter recruit of the Gones, Edon Zhegrova (90th+1).
LOSC is thus in a bad position in the standings, as the Dogues remain in 9th place, under the threat of FC Nantes and Montpellier HSC, who respectively play PSG this Saturday (5pm) and FC Lorient on Sunday (3pm).
Jonathan David and Yilmaz silent and worrying before Chelsea
Beyond the unsatisfactory collective result, there is also a big concern for Lille. Their top scorer, Jonathan David (12 goals in 24 league games played this season), has still not scored a goal in 2022. As well as his partner in attack, Burak Yilmaz. The two center forwards were lined up side by side at Pierre Mauroy stadium against the Grenats, but they were not decisive.
Moreover, the Canadian and the Turk are ineffective since their goals against the Girondins in Bordeaux (2-3), during the 19th day of L1, December 22, 2021. Almost two months without finding the net, Jonathan David and Burak Yilmaz are in the hard. And this is not a good sign for the French champion, three days before the first leg of the Champions League final against Chelsea (reigning European champion).
