FOOTBALL – OM : Worry in Marseille after the slap received in Nice
Olympique de Marseille fell (3-0) at OGC Nice on Saturday. In addition to this defeat, OM has probably lost a defender for a few weeks.
Sampaoli and OM stumble at Allianz Rivera
Jorge Sampaoli will not have three wins in as many games with Olympique the Marseille. The OM lost against OGC Nice (3-0) on Saturday during the 30th day of Ligue 1. This is the first defeat of the Argentine technician as coach of the club. Against Nice, the Marseille coach was without Mickaël Cuisance, his man in form. The midfielder, who scored in Sampaoli‘s first two games, is on loan from Bayern Munich and has a sprained ankle. In addition to Cuisance, Marseille had to cope without Boubacar Kamara (suspended), Valentin Rongier, Jordan Amavi and Yohan Pele. In the absence of Amavi, the Japanese Yuto Nagatomo was aligned on the left flank in the 3-5-2 proposed by the Argentine coach. Except that he stayed only 15 minutes on the Allianz Rivera pitch.
Towards a long absence of Nagatomo?
The 34-year-old defender was replaced at the end of the first quarter of an hour by his compatriot Hiroki Sakai. The former Inter Milan player went directly to the dressing room after his exit. The first news from Nagatomo are far from reassuring. Indeed, L’Équipe reveals that the Japanese international (109 caps/3 goals) suffers from a muscle tear in the thigh. The left back should undergo additional medical examinations this Sunday. These will determine the exact severity of his injury and if necessary the duration of his unavailability.
