FOOTBALL – PSG Mercato: Salah, Doha prepares something in secret
A year before the end of his contract, Mohamed Salah has still not extended with Liverpool. And PSG would try to rush into this file.
Michael Edwards to lure Mohamed Salah to Paris SG?
With the increasingly obvious departure of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, the reaction of Paris Saint-Germain is highly expected on the next summer mercato. The club of the capital being announced on the tracks of several big offensive stars. And if Robert Lewandowski is presented as the priority target for the succession of Mbappé, the Qatari authorities of PSG would have a very discreet dream: to dislodge Mohamed Salah from the ranks of Liverpool.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi would even push his pawns in this direction. In search of a new sporting director to replace Leonardo in his post, the Parisian president would indeed be positioned on the track leading to Michael Edwards. Strong man of the glorious decade of Liverpool, he brought Jürgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.
In office at the Reds since 2011, the English manager has already announced that he would leave his post at the end of the season. According to the Telegraph, Paris SG would like him to replace Leonardo. The British tabloid also reveals that the interest of PSG for Michael Edwards would not be insignificant. Indeed, after a new disappointment in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain would like to rebuild with a project similar to that of Liverpool.
The right-hand man of Jürgen Klopp would therefore be courted with the issue of a future arrival of Mohamed Salah to succeed Kylian Mbappé alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar. Especially since the Egyptian international has not yet renewed his lease, which will end in June 2023. But PSG is not alone on this big move.
PSG Mercato: Barça wants to counter Qatar’s plans
According to the Spanish daily Sport, Barcelona is also on the trail of Mohamed Salah. If he fails to attract Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), the Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, would have planned to launch an offensive for Salah next summer.
However, the Catalan media specifies that the Blaugrana are already dreading the upcoming offer from Paris SG since Qatar would set up the former AS Roma striker as a top priority in case Kylian Mbappé leaves.
