PSG: Bayern Munich’s president already launches the March 8 clash
After their victory over Marseille, PSG is preparing for their Champions League round of 16 match against Bayern Munich. And the president of the German club is eager to take on the Red and Blues.
Having won the first leg (1-0) at the Parc des Princes on February 14, Bayern Munich hopes to confirm their advantage against Paris Saint-Germain on March 8, in the return leg of the Champions League round of 16. On the other hand, the French champions, who have regained their star striker Kylian Mbappé, author of a double against Marseille this weekend, want to secure their qualification for the quarterfinals of the competition in German territory. And while both sides are already displaying their confidence ahead of this top clash, the president of the current Bundesliga leaders, Herbert Hainer, is particularly self-assured. In an interview with Bild, he affirmed that his team will eliminate PSG from the Champions League in about ten days.
“The team has shown (against Union) and also in Paris that it is there when it matters most. They will show it again (in the return leg). I am absolutely confident for Paris. When you see who comes off the bench, other clubs would love to have that. This is another reason why I am full of confidence. We have everything in our hands. We are at the top,” declared the president of Bayern Munich, following their victory against Union Berlin (3-0) in the Bundesliga. In France, journalist Daniel Riolo believes in Paris Saint-Germain‘s chances, provided that Christophe Galtier shows courage in his choices.
PSG: Riolo delivers the recipe to beat Bayern Munich
After Paris Saint-Germain‘s show of strength on the field against Olympique de Marseille, Daniel Riolo believes that the reigning French champions have all the cards in hand to qualify in Munich against Bayern. To achieve this, Christophe Galtier will have to be willing to break up the MNM in favor of the Messi-Mbappé duo.
“If Galtier wants to have any hope of beating Bayern Munich, it’s going to be complicated, it can only be done like that. With Hakimi coming back on the right, Nuno Mendes even better, and you’ll have players who will do the job soberly. It will only go through a huge match from Mbappé, it won’t come from anything else (…) Now, we have always known that the three of them are not possible, I think that Messi and Mbappé fit better. There isn’t a lot of human affinity between Neymar and Mbappé. Neymar is increasingly scrutinized in the locker room. I think Messi and Mbappé are the right combination for PSG,” Riolo explained on RMC Sport.
