Mercato OL: A future in England for Romain Faivre?
On loan from OL to FC Lorient since this winter, Romain Faivre could experience English football at the end of his loan spell.
A touch of England for Romain Faivre
Arriving at Lyon for 15 million euros from Stade Brestois, the player developed at AS Monaco failed to establish himself at Lyon. To revive his career, fient positioned themselves this winter to secure the versatile attacking midfielder on a six-month loan. With 14 appearances now under his belt in the colors of Les Merlus, Romain Faivre has scored a total of 2 goals and provided 4 assists.
According to journalist Hanif Ben Berkane, the 24-year-old player has attracted interest from English clubs, namely Bournemouth and Fulham in the Premier League. Bournemouth, who own 40% of the Breton club, would like to acquire Romain Faivre and then loan him back to FC Lorient for an additional year. Still belonging to OL, the Lyon executives are said to be demanding 15 million euros to part ways with the left-footed player.
Reviving his career in Brittany, the right option?
Following in the footsteps of Romain Faivre, another player from OL attempted to revive his career in Brittany, but this time with Stade Rennais. Indeed, Karl Toko-Ekambi also left Lyon on a six-month loan. Unlike his former teammate, the Cameroonian forward will not be kept for an additional year at Rennes.
With an average record, he failed to convince the Red and Black leaders to purchase him at the end of his loan spell. He will therefore return to Lyon in the offseason, although there is a slim chance of seeing him play again in the colors of OL, as his relationship with the supporters had deteriorated throughout his Lyon adventure. OL will therefore have to manage the cases of numerous players returning from loan spells, such as Romain Faivre and Karl Toko-Ekambi. In addition, an important transfer window awaits them to turn the tide after a more than mediocre season in Ligue 1.
