AS Monaco Mercato: Author of a nice season, the princely club could lose this summer Guillermo Maripan, tracked by a very big of Europe.
AS Monaco Mercato: Bayern on the trail of Guillermo Maripan
The AS is realizing an incredible second part of the season. Second in Ligue 1, tied on points with Olympique the Marseille, the club of the Rock has the cards in hand to qualify for the Champions League next season. ASM remains on an incredible streak of 9 consecutive victories, which has allowed them to gradually return on their direct competitors. But with the decisive match against Lens coming up tomorrow, Monaco could be in for some bad news for the summer transfer window.
Several players have exploded this season in the Principality and are now courted by major European clubs. This is particularly the case of Aurelien Tchouameni, who is wanted by Paris SG, Liverpool and Real Madrid, among others. But this Friday, it is another ASM executive who attracts Europe, Guillermo Maripan. The 28-year-old Chilean central defender is still a permanent fixture in Philippe Clement’s team and could join Bayern Munich, who are looking for a replacement for Niklas Süle.
Bayern ready to pay 15 million euros for Maripan
According to the German daily TZ, the recent German champion would have eyes on Guillermo Maripan. The central defender of AS Monaco has played 36 games in all competitions this season and has helped the club of the Rock to be more solid. With 38 goals conceded, ASM is the third best defense in Ligue 1 and has its best defensive record since the 2016-2017 season, when the club won its famous French championship title (31 goals conceded).
Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann is attracted by Maripan’s profile. A real defensive leader, strong in duels, involved in the construction of the game and communicative, the Chilean has everything of the defender sought by the Bavarians. The 28-year-old also speaks Spanish, English and French, so he would have no trouble fitting in with Bayern‘s cosmopolitan squad. According to TZ, the Munich club could offer up to 15 million euros for his services. But AS Monaco should not let Maripan go so easily, as the club bought him for €18 million from Deportivo Alaves in the summer of 2019.
