Chelsea Mercato: Timo Werner on the move?

Timo Werner arrived in London in the summer of 2020 with great fanfare alongside Kai Havertz. During this mercato, Chelsea had recruited for no less than 243 million euros. Timo Werner had started his season well with his club, but then he started to perform poorly. Because of his missed opportunities, he became the target of criticism from the media and the fans. However, he kept the unwavering support of his coach Thomas Tuchel. In fact, he was a starter in the Champions League final against Manchester City.

Nevertheless, this season, Timo Werner plays much less since the arrival of Romelu Lukaku at the Blues. A situation that could facilitate a departure a few months before the World Cup in Qatar. The player needs playing time to keep his place with the Mannschaft. Chelsea had bought Timo Werner for the sum of 53 million euros. The Blues will not want to sell him at a price too low to not feel cheated in this transaction.

Dortmund is starting to prospect for the post Haaland. Everything suggests that the 22-year-old Norwegian striker will leave the Ruhr club this summer. That’s why the club’s leaders are already scouting for his replacement.

According to Ekrem Konur and ESPN, they have ticked off the name of Timo Werner, the German striker from Chelsea. The former player of Leipzig and Stuttgart has the advantage of knowing the Bundesliga and the Champions League. Thus, he could quickly adapt and be effective with Dortmund. At the moment, the possible obstacles to this transaction are whether Timo Werner wants to come to Dortmund and the price demanded by the Blues which could be high. However, the money recovered from the transfer of Erling Haaland will be immediately reinvested to find his replacement, which would then allow Werner to be poached from Chelsea.
