PSG-Bayern: Christophe Galtier gives his verdict on Lionel Messi

With four days to go before the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Bayern Munich, PSG coach Christophe Galtier gave an update on Lionel Messi.

Paris Saint-Germain produced a medical statement this Friday to give an update on the situation of Lionel Messi, injured Wednesday night against Olympique Marseille in the round of 16 of the French Cup. “Leo Messi, who suffered a hamstring injury against Marseille, will remain in treatment for 48 hours. His return to training is scheduled for Monday,” said the club of the capital on its website.

Already deprived of Kylian Mbappé since February 1, PSG will therefore do without its Argentine star this Saturday against AS Monaco. The seven-time Golden Ball winner should however be able to hold his place next Tuesday against Bayern Munich, according to the words of his coach Christophe Galtier.

PSG: Lionel Messi “not uncertain” against Bayern Munich

In a press conference on Friday, Christophe Galtier dismissed the uncertainties raised in recent hours by the media on the presence of Lionel Messi against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on February 14, at 9pm at the Parc des Princes.

“Regarding Leo, he felt a muscle fatigue. He will resume training on Monday, on the eve of the match against Bayern. Leo will not be available for tomorrow’s game against Monaco. He will resume training on Monday, the day before the game. The uncertain point, you can put it aside,” said the French technician in front of the media.

A trend confirmed by the entourage of the seven-time Golden Ball winner in the columns of the daily Team. Author of 15 goals and 14 assists in 25 games in all competitions, Lionel Messi will be able to hold his place against the Bundesliga champion. It remains to be seen if Christophe Galtier will judge him physically ready enough to start on Tuesday night at the Parc des Princes.
