FOOTBALL – Inter Mercato: Lukaku’s replacement found and it’s a Frenchman!

Impacted by the sudden departure of Romelu Lukaku, Inter Milan would have finally found his replacement. After the arrival of Edin Dzeko, Inter are now negotiating with the entourage of Marcus Thuram.

Inter Mercato: Marcus Thuram close to replacing Lukaku

The Italian mercato has nothing to envy to the one across the Channel. If the English have been dipping into Serie A this summer to sign big players (Lukaku, Romero…), the Italian clubs have not let themselves down by filling the gaps left in their staff. If the departure of Lukaku has considerably upset the summer of the Nerazzurri, the Lombardy leaders have been quick to find potential replacements for the prolific Belgian striker. While Bosnian Edin Dzeko recently joined Inter Milan on a two-season deal from AS Roma, the club has been working internally to bring in a second striker to support Argentine Lautaro Martinez, who has lost his strike partner to Chelsea.

If the first idea of Inter was to sign the Colombian striker of Atalanta, Duvan Zapata, the Lombards could finally get the services of the promising Marcus Thuram, author of a very convincing season in Germany, at Borussia M’Gladbach (29 Bundesliga games for 8 goals and 2 assists). According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milanese clan has already started negotiations with the former Guingamp player’s entourage.

Under contract until 2023 in M’Gladbach, Thuram has a value on the market estimated at 35 million euros. A substantial sum, but which is largely within the reach of Inter, which has seen the arrival of nearly 200 million euros after the sale of Hakimi to PSG and Lukaku to the Blues. Replacing the Red Devils‘ striker will not be an easy task for the Frenchman, who at 24 years old would take an important step in his career by signing for the Scudetto winners.
