FOOTBALL – PSG : Pochettino still without Neymar against LOSC
After its surprise defeat against FC Nantes (1-2) on Sunday at the Parc des Princes, PSG hosts LOSC on Wednesday (5:45pm) in the last 16 of the French Cup. The Parisians, after an already difficult Champions League return match against Barcelona (1-1), must raise their heads and not let slip the opportunity to win a trophy at the end of the season, while they are now three points behind the leader Lille. But for this important game, a few days before a no less crucial trip to Olympique Lyonnais, Mauricio Pochettino will still be without Neymar, but not only.
Neymar to return against OL only?
Neymar was expected to return to action last week against Barcelona in the Champions League after missing the first leg of their French Cup tie against SM Caen with an injury in early February. The Brazilian “has returned to the group and is continuing his individual work,” wrote PSG in its usual medical statement. Neymar’s return could come against OL on Sunday in the clash of the 30th round, which could seal the fate of the Parisians in the race for the title if they lose at the Groupama Stadium. In the meantime, Mauricio Pochettino will have to do without Pablo Sarabia, who is suffering from a “discomfort in his right hip” and who will “carry out individual work until the international break”. Finally, Juan Bernat is continuing his rehabilitation and will of course not be available against the Ligue 1 leaders.
Keylor Navas feels good at PSG
For his part, Keylor Navas spoke of his enjoyment of playing for PSG, what he no longer felt at Real Madrid and what justified his departure. “In Spain, I had the impression that part of the club did not believe in me. At PSG, everyone believes in me and I try to give that confidence back in every game,” the Costa Rican goalkeeper told the club’s website, while he is the subject of controversy in Costa Rica with his national team. However, it is Sergio Rico who is expected to keep goal for Paris at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday against LOSC, as he is Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice in the French Cup this season.
