FOOTBALL – Stade Rennais Mercato : SRFC makes a big decision in attack
Stade Rennais Mercato: Courted by Bayern Munich, young attacking talent Mathys Tel saw SRFC make a big decision on Monday.
Stade Rennais Mercato : Maurice has made his decision for Mathys Tel
The news hit like a bomb earlier this week. In search of a promising young striker to compensate for the potential departure of Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich has set its sights on SRFC sensation Mathys Tel. The 17 year old striker, with only 10 games to his credit this season, has aroused the interest of the Bavarians who would even make him their summer priority. A major courtier for the young prodigy from the Breton training center, considered by many observers as one of, if not the greatest Rennes hope in this position.
According to Sky Sports, Bayern would have communicated this Monday to Stade Rennais an offer of 7 million euros and bonuses to enroll the native of Sarcelles. A rather important offer for such a young player but obviously not enough for the Red and Black management. According to Team , Florian Maurice simply refused the first offer of the German champions, judging it derisory compared to the real price of Mathys Tel. SRFC would simply not sell, explains the newspaper, unless a very large offer comes on the table.
Stade Rennais Mercato : More playing time promised to Tel next season
Under contract until June 2024 at Stade Rennais, the 17-year-old prodigy should get more playing time next season, like other players like Matthis Abline or Loum Tchaouna. Despite the presence of Gaëtan Laborde and Serhou Guirassy (whose future is still in doubt), some strikers from the training center could benefit from more protagonism in Genesio‘s squad, especially during the pre-season matches.
“They are both here for the moment (Tel and Abline), they are two young players on whom we count a lot. We have the will to integrate young people, not because they come from the training, but because they have the talent and the potential to do it. These are players who will certainly have more playing time available this season,” said the Rennes coach about his young strikers.
