OL Mercato : Houssem Aouar finds an agreement with AS Roma
The end is near for Houssem Aouar. With his contract ending at OL and his departure announced for several months, the midfielder has reached an agreement with AS Roma.
After several failed transfer attempts, Houssem Aouar will leave OL freely this summer. While he was being targeted by several clubs in the top five leagues, the player trained at Olympique Lyonnais will ultimately join an Italian club. He preferred AS Roma over AC Milan and Napoli, who courted him in Serie A.
According to information from Calciomercato, the 24-year-old playmaker has already reached an agreement with the Giallorossi. Last Monday, he traveled to Rome and underwent the usual medical examination without any problem. The source is very specific about the trip of the OL‘s number 8 to Rome. It indicates that he was accompanied to Laurentina at the Campus Bio-Medical, during the medical exams, by an employee of the Giallorossi club. Houssem Aouar returned to Lyon around 1:30 a.m.
OL Mercato: A salary of about 2.8 million euros per season
The Lyon native will therefore join Roma at the end of the season. His salary is estimated at around 2.8 million euros per season plus bonuses. He will thus leave the Lyon family nest for the first time, after 14 years at the Rhône club. Indeed, Houssem Aouar trained at his hometown club between 2009 and 2015. After a few games with the reserve team, he made his debut with the professional team in 2016. He has therefore defended the colors of OL in Ligue 1 for 7 consecutive seasons.
In recent months, Houssem Aouar has been on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, Real Betis and Sevilla FC in Spain, and Aston Villa in the Premier League. He has played a total of 229 matches in the Gones jersey, scoring 41 goals and delivering 36 assists.
