PSG: Paris SG confirms a hard blow against Stade Rennais
PSG welcomes Stade Rennais this Sunday afternoon as part of the 23rd matchday of Ligue 1. On the eve of this match, the Parisian club confirmed a tough blow to its squad.
PSG: Luis Enrique without a key player against Stade Rennais.
Paris Saint-Germain released its traditional pre-match medical report this Saturday. And Luis Enrique did not want to take any risks with his captain Marquinhos for the reception of Stade Rennais. Injured in a calf against Nantes (2-0) last Saturday, the 29-year-old central defender is being rested for the clash against the Bretons on Sunday at 5:05 pm, for the 23rd round of Ligue 1.
Paris Saint-Germain takes Marquinhos‘ situation very seriously, as he suffers from tendon pain just days before the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Sociedad. With 17 appearances in the league this season, Neymar‘s compatriot will therefore stay at home tomorrow afternoon. An additional absence in a position already decimated by the absences of Milan Skriniar and Presnel Kimpembe, who “continue their rehabilitation exercises.” On the other hand, the Parisian coach could count on the return of a long-term injured player.
Nuno Mendes back in the squad against SRFC?
Before the visit of Stade Rennais, Paris Saint-Germain currently has a comfortable lead of 13 points over its runner-up, Stade Brestois, at the top of the table. Luis Enrique therefore does not need to take any risks for Sunday’s match.
However, this match could be an opportunity to see Nuno Mendes again, who resumed full training with the squad earlier this week. Injured for over nine months, the 21-year-old left-back is not mentioned in today’s medical update. The young Portuguese international is fit and could therefore be included in the PSG squad to face Julien StĂ©phan‘s men.
