RC Strasbourg: Hard blow for Frédéric Antonetti ahead of PSG match
Before the match against Paris, RC Strasbourg has received bad news. Frédéric Antonetti will be deprived of one of his key players.
RC Strasbourg: Frédéric Antonetti will be without Djiku against PSG.
After two consecutive victories against OGC Nice (2-0) and FC Nantes (0-2), RC Strasbourg has moved away from the relegation zone. The Strasbourg team hoped to secure their place in Ligue 1 by achieving a victory on the field of Troyes. However, Frédéric Antonetti‘s men were unable to reach this objective.
RC Strasbourg drew the match against Troyes (1-1) and currently sits in 15th place with 39 points after the 36th round of the championship. The shared points obtained in Aube delay the maintenance of the Alsatian club with only two matches remaining in the season. Nevertheless, RCSA still holds their fate in their own hands.
Moreover, the Alsace team will attempt to secure their place definitively in the French football elite when they host Paris Saint-Germain this Saturday evening at the Stade de la Meinau. And for this match in the 37th round of the championship, Frédéric Antonetti will have to compose his team without Alexander Djiku.
Alexander Djiku will serve a one-match suspension.
Expelled during the away match against Troyes, the vice-captain of RC Strasbourg has received his verdict. While his expulsion could have resulted in a two-match suspension, the disciplinary committee of the LFP has made a decision. Alexander Djiku has been handed a one-match suspension and another match with a suspended sentence. The central defender of RCSA will therefore miss the match against PSG.
However, Alexander Djiku should be present the following week against FC Lorient, on the last matchday of the championship. His teammate Lucas Perrin, on the other hand, is expected to be suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Nevertheless, Frédéric Antonetti will have to find a solution to strengthen his defense against the offensive arsenal of PSG, who are close to winning their 11th French championship title after leading the season from start to finish. As for RC Strasbourg, they will do everything to achieve a positive result in order to secure their maintenance in Ligue 1.
