PSG has inherited a complicated draw in the quarterfinals of the Champions League with the defending champion, Bayern Munich, last opponent of the Parisians in the final of the previous edition. Bayern Munich fears Mbappé and Pochettino
Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director of Bayern Munich and former player of the Bavarian club gave his reaction after the draw: “Paris has a very big team. They are currently second in their league, but it is a challenge for us at the highest level. They have an excellent coach with Pochettino who does a good job. They have high level players, and with Mbappé, a striker who has all the qualities and is very dangerous. Normally, the home advantage is very important for PSG, but right now we have to see where and how the matches can take place.”
PSG wanted to avoid Bayern
For the former PSG player and consultant for RMC, Jerome Rothen, Paris has of course inherited the worst possible draw. “PSG had planned a lot of things but wanted, I think, especially to avoid Bayern. There can’t be any disappointment, it would mean that you give up. PSG has quality players even if it is in difficulty collectively. There are still weeks of competition before the clash. Bayern is the best team in the world but on a double confrontation, PSG can raise its level”, estimated the former Parisian. For Mauricio Pochettino, Bayern Munich remains a very bad memory.
