FOOTBALL – OGC Nice Mercato : Todibo sends a strong message to Barça
On loan to OGC Nice from FC Barcelona during the winter transfer market, Jean-Clair Todibo has sent a message about his future at FC Barcelona.
OGC Nice : Todibo veut “rester” au Gymnase
Undesirable at Barça, Jean-Clair Todibo had been loaned to Benfica Lisbon on the last day of the 2020 summer mercato. But after only four months in Portugal, the young central defender joined OGC Nice in the form of a loan with an option to buy. Having regained playing time with the Ligue 1 club, he no longer wishes to return to Catalonia where he is not in the plans of Ronald Koeman.
In comments relayed by France Bleu Azur, Jean-Clair Todibo admits that he “wants to stay” at the Gym. “I want to stay”, he sent a message to the Barcelona management. The 21-year-old player certainly has his wish, but he is also aware of having signed commitments. Therefore, he told the source that “we must ask the question” about his future “to the leaders”.
Time to play again in Nice
Jean-Clair Todibo is a former player of Toulouse FC, his formative club. He played about ten games with the Técéfé before his transfer to Spain (at 1 M€) in January 2019. Landed in Barcelona, the axial back has never managed to impose himself there. As proof, he was loaned to Schalke 04 in January 2020, to Benfica in October 2020 and then to OGC Nice since February 1, 2021.
The Frenchman has played only 5 games for the Blaugrana in one year while he has already played 13 games with the Aiglons in 3 months. Jean-Clair Todibo is under contract with FCB until June 2023 and is worth 12 M€ on the market.
