A big threat is hanging over SRFC this summer. If the club is experiencing some headaches in its search for a central defender to replace Nayef Aguerd, Bruno Genesio’s team is facing a big dilemma. Victims of their success after their great season in the league, the Red and Black have seen Bayern Munich knocking on their door for one of their best talents.

As announced recently by the German press, the Munich club has set its sights on the striker Mathys Tel, considered by many to be the best player of his generation at Rennes. The 17-year-old prodigy is not only supervised by the German champions, according to the journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bavarian club would simply make the player their priority of the summer.

While Bruno Genesio recently indicated that he did not want to get rid of his young striker, Bayern would have returned to the charge in recent hours. “Within the club, they say that it is the greatest talent in Europe in attack. They really want him,” reveals the reporter of Sky Sports. As a reminder, Stade Rennais recently refused an offer of 7 million euros, plus 10 million euros in bonuses, considering the offer too far from the real value of the player. Nevertheless, Bayern Munich plans to come back to the charge very quickly in order to complete the file by the end of the month.

According to the local press, Munich plans to significantly increase its offer for Mathys Tel, whose contract runs until June 2024 at SRFC. The Breton talent, who is not insensitive to the Bavarian interest, however, sees his management putting obstacles in the way of the German club in this case.

If Rennes does not refuse to sell its striker, the club is nevertheless waiting for an offer defying all competition. “Negotiations are not easy. The owner Pinault is a difficult negotiator,” said Plettenberg on Twitter. It remains to be seen whether the new offer from Julian Nagelsmann‘s club will match the expectations of Stade Rennais. What is certain is that Bayern will not let go of the deal any time soon to get the French striker.
