Stade Rennais Transfer Market: Manchester City Still Pursuing Jérémy Doku.
The Jérémy Doku situation is gaining momentum day by day. While the departure of the Belgian winger is more than likely in this late transfer window period, his exact destination remains unknown. Among the closest suitors, attention turns to England, where Manchester City reportedly has already reached an agreement with the player to sign a 5-year contract.
However, the Cityzens’ executives have yet to reach an agreement with Stade Rennais‘ management, who demand €55 million to release their Belgian gem, who arrived in Rennes a little less than 3 years ago. SRFC could make a significant profit by selling the player, who particularly stood out in the latter part of last season after recurring physical setbacks.
Is West Ham Leading the Race for Doku?.
In addition to Manchester City, Tottenham and West Ham have also positioned themselves to sign Jérémy Doku. The Hammers have reportedly made an initial offer to Stade Rennais amounting to £50 million (approximately €58 million), as reported by The Independent. However, the player seems more enthusiastic about the idea of playing under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.
Nonetheless, Manchester City remains confident in finalizing an agreement with Jérémy Doku and Lucas Paquetá within the next two weeks. In three seasons, the Belgian international has played 91 matches in the colors of Stade Rennais, scoring 12 times and providing 10 assists. On the other hand, Stade Rennais‘ sporting director, Florian Maurice, confirmed this Thursday afternoon during Nemanja Matić‘s presentation that “things will still happen, probably with a departure, maybe two. We will consider replacing the one or those who leave.”
