Announced on the departure for several months, Houssem Aouar continues to be courted on the market and his departure from the OL is becoming clearer.

The midfielder of Olympique Lyonnais, Houssem Aouar, is now free to negotiate and commit himself to the club of his choice. The French international could leave Lyon after several aborted departures during the previous mercatos. Like Corentin Tolisso, Alexandre Lacazette and Anthony Lopes, Houssem Aouar is a pure product of Lyon’s training. The 24-year-old midfielder has climbed the ladder at Les Gones. The ascent of the French midfielder had reached its peak when the captain had guided the Lyonnais to a Champions League semi-final in 2020, lost to Bayern Munich.

For several seasons, relations between Houssem Aouar and the OL management have been strained and the French international refused to extend. After many refusals, the Lyon wanted to sell Houssem Aouar to avoid a free departure. The end of the romance between Houssem Aouar and the OL is now scheduled for June 2023, when the player’s contract expires. At the same time, the French international is highly sought after on the transfer market and the opening of the winter market has accelerated his case. Nottingham Forest, Betis Sevilla and AC Milan are the three clubs best placed to welcome Aouar. The 24-year-old midfielder, who was injured during OL‘s loss to Clermont, could make his decision in January.
