OGC Nice: The Gym obtains its ticket for the 8th finals
OGC Nice got scared, but the Aiglons are qualified for the next round in the Europa League Conference. Lucien Favre‘s men conceded a draw at FC Cologne after leading 2-0 at the break. An important result for Nice who will avoid the play-off against a club from the Europa League. OGC Nice is the only French club in the European Cup to have finished in first place in its group. The teammates of Mario Lemina will thus find the Europa League Conference in March 2023.

OGC Nice: Lucien Favre reacts to the first place
Interviewed in the post-match press conference, Lucien Favre returned to the first place obtained by the Gym. The coach of OGC Nice said:
“We wanted to qualify, I said so at the beginning of the season. We did it. In all the games, they were all difficult. We saw it against Slovácko, against Partizan, against Cologne. But I think it’s not undeserved that we are first at the end. Look at the game against Slovácko, we have to lead 3-0 at half-time and at the end we lose it. But that’s soccer, that’s sport, it can happen. On the whole, we reacted well, because we beat Partizan at home (2-1). Then we come to draw away in Cologne.”
Next up on Sunday, Nice will host Stade Brestois with the aim of securing a second consecutive win in Ligue 1. OGC Nice will finish this first part of the season with a clash against OL.
