Manchester United caught in a hellish trap
Fourteenth in the Premier League after their defeat to Newcastle, Manchester United is not in a strong position as the transfer window opens. The Red Devils are under the watchful eye of financial fair play authorities.
While Manchester City awaits the outcome of the numerous breaches alleged against the English champions, things are not much simpler at Old Trafford. Although the fear is less pronounced, the winter transfer window promises to be complicated. As Ruben Amorim demands that the club’s leadership strengthen a squad that the Portuguese coach has struggled to turn around, the reality is far from easy. Indeed, according to the specialized outlet @ManUtdMEN, even though the Red Devils are adrift in the Premier League, this does not give them the right to violate the PSR (Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations), the equivalent of the DNCG.
In other words, before even thinking about buying players, Manchester United will need to sell some in order to have funds to invest in this winter transfer market. According to various English media outlets, Ruben Amorim has already decided which players will be shown the door as early as the beginning of January. Those players are Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Christian Eriksen, whom the coach, who arrived in December, no longer counts on. Once these deals are finalized, the Manchester United manager is said to be keen on recruiting a new goalkeeper to compete with André Onana, from whom he expects much more, as well as a full-back, with Nuno Mendes being the top priority. However, Paris Saint-Germain will not make it easy for Manchester United.
