FOOTBALL – AS Monaco Mercato: Bayern make decision on Alexander Nübel

On loan to Monaco, Alexander Nübel could extend his adventure on the Rock, because Bayern Munich would have changed its plans for the goalkeeper.

AS Monaco goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is in his second and last season of contract on the Rock. He is expected to join Bayern Munich at the end of the current season. The 26-year-old goalkeeper is under contract with the Bundesliga club until June 2025 and his loan to ASM does not come with an option to buy. However, the management of Bayern Munich would have changed its position on the future of its goalkeeper, according to sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.

He would no longer be inclined to bring back Alexander Nübel in the summer of 2023, in order to prepare him for the succession of Manuel Neuer, as originally planned. “2023, it will not happen. After that date, we have to see,” the Bavarian leader told Sky Sports Germany, about the return of the player on loan to AS Monaco.

AS Monaco Mercato : Nübel extended by Bayern and loaned until 2024 ?

According to the source, Bayern would now consider extending Alexander Nübel‘s contract for another two years, until June 2027. Thus, he will still be able to do a season on loan in 2023-2024, at AS Monaco or another club, before returning to Munich. Specifically, the Reds (Die Roten) want to get their keeper back in the summer of 2024, at the end of Manuel Neuer‘s lease at the club. He would thus succeed directly to the legendary keeper of the Bavarians.

This season, Alexander Nübel has played so far, the 14 games of Ligue 1 and the 8 games of European Cup in full. He is going to have the same season as 2021-2022, crowned by a 3rd place on the podium of the championship. He had taken part in all 38 games of Ligue 1, entirely.
