FOOTBALL – Stade Rennais Mercato : A superb signature is being prepared in silence

In the middle of the summer mercato, some files monopolize the attention more than others, and it is not the Stade Rennais who will say the opposite. If the future of the young star Eduardo Camavinga is at the center of all the attention of Rennes, a year before the end of his contract, the Breton club is active internally to recruit his future replacement. If the Jens Cajuste track remains topical despite strong competition from England, another file in midfield much more discreet this time, is about to be completed. According to the journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Nicolas Holveck is pushing to sign the French midfielder Baptiste Santamaria, who plays in the Bundesliga with SC Freiburg.

Stade Rennais Mercato : A file close to being closed in silence

While SRFC is facing a major headache as it enters the final battle to sign 22-year-old nugget Jens Cajuste, a great deal could be done soon to relieve the Breton management. Recruited last year from SCO d’Angers, the 26-year-old midfielder, Baptiste Santamaria, is getting closer and closer to Roazhon Park in the greatest discretion.

Despite a complex file, Nicolas Holveck and his staff are working hard to convince the German club to release their Frenchman. With 30 games played this season in the Bundesliga, the former Angevin has proved to be a key piece of the SC Freiburg squad. Under contract until 2024 in Germany, the player has a market value of 15 million euros, but could join Rennes on loan.

Trained at Tours FC, the French midfielder made his pro debut at 18, coming on against CA Basta in October 2013. Quickly at ease in his first season, Santamaria was spotted by Ligue 1 clubs and signed for Angers in 2016, where he would prove to be an essential part of Stéphane Moulin‘s squad.
