OM Mercato : Igor Tudor asks for patience for his recruits

The coach of OM, Igor Tudor, has spoken out about the difficulties currently faced by Vitinha and Azzedine Ounahi at Marseille.

To strengthen its squad, OM managed to secure the arrival of three players this winter. And only Ruslan Malinovskyi, who arrived from Atlanta Bergamo, has managed to establish himself within the Marseille team. The Ukrainian attacking midfielder quickly adapted to his new environment and the instructions of his coach, Igor Tudor.

With a record of 2 goals in 12 matches played with OM in this second half of the season, the 29-year-old player has established himself well in the starting eleven of Marseille. However, the situation is different for the two other winter recruits. Azzedine Ounahi and Vitinha are currently going through a very difficult period of adaptation and are struggling to regain their best level of play at OM.

OM Mercato: Igor Tudor takes a stand for Vitinha and Azzedine Ounahi

Azzedine Ounahi and Vitinha arrived at OM with the reputation of being very promising players. The former had an exceptional World Cup with Morocco, and OM spent around 10 million euros to bring him in from Angers SCO. As for the latter, he was courted by major European clubs due to his excellent performances at Sporting.

The Olympique de Marseille spent no less than 32 million euros to secure their services, making Vitinha the most expensive signing in the club’s history. However, the young Portuguese striker has not been able to meet the high expectations placed on him. He was given a starting position upon his arrival at OM, but he delivered a poor performance in the defeat to OGC Nice.

Despite chasing his first goal in the OM shirt, Vitinha now has to settle for a substitute role, just like Azzedine Ounahi, who had made encouraging starts at OM. These two young players are regularly criticized in Marseille, but they can still count on the support of Igor Tudor.

The coach continues to repeat that patience will be required with these new signings who are still adapting to the Marseille environment. “They have to learn a new system of play, get used to a new environment, and assimilate high expectations,” he explained in comments reported by La Marseillaise. Igor Tudor will undoubtedly assess the progress of these new reinforcements during the press conference scheduled for this afternoon, two days before the match against RC Strasbourg.
